Shell Tameer Awards 2014 reward the entrepreneurial spirit of Pakistani youth

Of the 12 finalists, 4 top-notch entrepreneurs shone at the Awards Ceremony for their innovative business approaches.
Karachi, November 17, 2014: As Shell Tameer celebrates a decade of generating entrepreneurship opportunities, four winners were awarded at the 7th Awards Ceremony at the Mohatta Palace, Karachi.
Twelve entrepreneurs were shortlisted from a total of 250 entries from across Pakistan. The Awards Ceremony, cosponsored by JS Bank, was held after an exhibition to showcase their businesses.
The categories and winners for this year’s Awards were:
Adamjee Insurance Ingenuity Award for a creative out of the box concept – Yasir Hasan from Smart SurgiSol
Express Tribune Environment Award for positive contributions to the environment -Sanwal Muneer from Capture Mobility
EFU Life Changing Lives Award for the creation of social impact - Humaira Bachal from Dream Foundation Trust
Tamer Microfinance Bank Creating Opportunity Award for perpetuating business progress alongside community development - Fatima Tendai from Tendai Lamps
At the event, Seemi Saad, External Affairs Manager of Shell Pakistan Limited said:

Shell Tameer Awards
The cornerstones of Shell Tameer are the Shell Tameer Young Entrepreneur Awards. It is a nationwide competition designed to recognize young business start-up role models and rewards those that have demonstrated business innovation and benefited community through social enterprise approaches.
Over 250 applications for the 2014 Awards were received, 85% from urban centers and 15% from rural regions. Based on carefully designed criteria, a panel chose 12 finalists at contenders for the final awards. These twelve young men and women are being recognized for their innovative ideas and the feasibility of their business plans.
Shell Tameer
For a decade, Tameer has developed entrepreneurial skills in young people across Pakistan aged 18 to 32 years. It encourages them start a business as a viable career option by providing free information, counselling, support and training. So far 75,000 thousand young people have been engaged by Tameer through 112 workshops and 127 seminars nation-wide. Tameer's efforts have resulted in 1000 new start-ups, providing employment to approximately 22,500 people.
